Baguio Burnham Park may soon have a free WI-FI for the public

Strollers and those who like to hang out and take a breath of fresh air in Burnham Park will likely to be happy right now as the national government is planning to put up free WI-FI to all major parks in the country.

In a report by GMA News' JP Soriano, the current government will be allotting Php3 Billion for an internet project that aims to put up 100,000 WI-FI spots in major public places in the country that includes parks, plazas, government offices, health centers, hospitals and piers.

Department of Information and Communication Technology (DITC) Usec. Jorge Sarmiento said free internet access will be put up in public places.

He also said that all public schools nationwide will have a free WI-FI so that students can have access to information from the internet.

Last year, the department has launched a project called Juan Konek Free Public WI-FI that aims to provide free broadband internet access to 1 municipalities and cities nationwide. The project is on a beta test and if it resulted positive it will be soon available to all cities and municipalities nationwide.


As of now there were only 237 Free WI-FI hotspot under the Juan Konek Free Wi-FI project.
